On Thursday, December 22nd we went for our anatomy scan. At this ultrasound, they basically measure all the bones in the baby's body as well as check the brain, heart, stomach, kidneys and placenta. This was a fantastic ultrasound! We were in a larger room than our last visit and were able to watch the whole thing on a large TV screen as opposed to the tiny screen we saw Squirt on last time. We also got to find out the sex of our baby!!! We chose to keep the gender a secret by asking the tech to write the gender of the baby inside a card along with any identifying pictures. We kept the envelope sealed, and hidden (from Col) until Christmas morning. When we opened the envelope we were delighted to learn we are having a baby girl this May! Here are a few pictures from our scan including a profile, a tiny 3cm foot and a thumbs up from our little girl!

Appointment
Thursday we had a regular checkup for 16 weeks. We're early so we were 15 weeks and 5 days. It was a quick and easy appointment. Col went with her dad since the doctor is only two blocks from his office and Dave doesn't need to take a half day for that quick an appointment. All seems good. Col is gaining weight and we got to hear the heartbeat! :)

Guess What!?
Welcome to our blog! We are very excited to share the growth of our baby with all of you. We have posted a few posts below of things that have happened during the first trimester. Here are two additional shots from our most recent ultrasound on November 17th. Col was about 13 weeks along at that time. Pictures can't show the amazing sight we saw. The baby was moving and stretching and we could see the spine, head, nose, arms, legs and even a waving hand!! Needless to say, we can't wait until May to meet our little Squirt!

Shopping Spree!!!
Armed with a Baby Depot coupon and one item in mind, Col went shopping. Col easily found the pregnancy pillow she was looking for and she loves it. She also found a great picture frame, and bought the first item for Squirt: two receiving blankets. On the way home, Col stopped and made a great consignment shop find. For only $3 she found her first pair of pregnancy pants!
Our Little Gummy Bear
October 10th was our 8 week check-up. We got to see the baby on ultrasound. He or she is upside down on his/her head. You can see little arm and leg nubs! After the appointment, we decided we need a name for baby. Dave suggested Squirt and it stuck! :)
